A group from Irwin Mitchell’s Cambridge team courageously jumped out of a perfectly functional aircraft earlier this month (with a parachute on), as part of an annual Magpas fundraiser.
Solicitors Phoebe, Shereen and Rob all signed up to the Magpas Skydive in Peterborough, helping to raise even more money for the law firm’s chosen charity of the year.
On July 12th, the group arrived at the Sibson Airfield, looking slightly apprehensive, but on the whole very excited. After getting geared up and being briefed on what exactly they were letting themselves in for, Phoebe, Rob and Shereen were ready and raring to go.
Unfortunately, being a traditional British summer’s day, it then began to rain. Rain soon turned to monsoon, and it started to look like it would never hold up. After what seemed like hours of waiting around, there was finally a break in the clouds, and the sun made a long awaited appearance.
Seizing the opportunity, the skydivers piled into an aeroplane, ready to take them up to 12,000 feet, where they’d all make first ever tandem free fall.
Phoebe said, “I loved the experience – it was amazing and we all had an absolutely incredible time. The jump was totally surreal and I had a fantastic instructor from UK Parachuting who tested my limits of bravery and put my mind at ease! I can now tick this off my bucket list having fulfilled a lifetime’s ambition. I’m so pleased I helped to raise lots of money for Magpas!”
