CBGS presents £25,000 to Magpas Air Ambulance

Cambridge Business Golf Society presented a cheque for £25,055.94 to Magpas Air Ambulance at an event held at Madingley Hall.

The society has over 100 members consisting of business leaders in the Cambridge area. Each year, the captain of the society nominates a charity of their choice which benefits from various fundraising activities during the season. These include 10 golf days and a fundraising dinner at The Graduate Hotel which features an auction and celebrity guest speaker. Rugby World Cup winner, Will Greenwood, proved a huge success last year and England cricket legend and TV personality, Phil Tufnell, has been booked for this year’s charity dinner.

The society’s captain for 2023, Chris Carey said “Magpas Air Ambulance is the oldest medical charity of its kind in the country but is not state-funded and relies on public donations to continue to save lives. Our members dug deep during the season and I am so proud of the amount we have managed to raise for such a worthy cause.”

Magpas Air Ambulance Director of Fundraising and Marketing, Lucy Chapman, adds “The evening at Madingley Hall was the culmination of a fantastic year of fundraising by Chris and Cambridge Business Golf Society members. As a charity, we are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped raise £25,000 for our vital cause and it was an honour to be able to thank as many people as possible at the event. This donation is a huge sum that will help the Magpas Air Ambulance medical team continue saving lives and keep families together across Cambridgeshire and beyond.”

In the past six years, Cambridge Business Golf Society has raised over £130,000 for worthy causes including Arthur Rank Hospice, Prostate Cancer UK and Romsey Mill.
