Student Volunteering Week is a national week, led by the Student Volunteering Network, that takes place across the UK to encourage and celebrate volunteering for younger people in education to help their local communities.
At Magpas Air Ambulance, we're fortunate to have volunteers of all ages, and wanted to shine a light on some of our student volunteers. First up, meet Rosie...
Rosie first got involved with our charity by completing her Year 10 work experience with us almost two years ago, and still regularly volunteers at events and other opportunities. While volunteering for our charity, Rosie has also won Young Volunteer of the Year at the Hunts Forum Volunteer Awards!
She says, "During my work experience I did a wide range of tasks, and it gave me a real insight into how amazing Magpas Air Ambulance is and how important everyone is for the whole charity to operate. I loved it so much, I joined as a volunteer the day I finished. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and always grateful for any time I can contribute."

Next, meet Becca, who is a third-year student paramedic.
She explains, "Having worked on frontline ambulances, there have been many instances where I’ve required the skills and expertise that the Magpas Air Ambulance clinicians provide, and I’ve seen first-hand the near miracles that the crew perform.
"There are no words to describe the feeling of relief when you hear the helicopter circling overhead, and this is what initially sparked my interest into volunteering with the charity. Magpas Air Ambulance is at the forefront of pre-hospital emergency medicine, and volunteering for such an inspiring organisation not only fuels my passion for paramedicine but also inspires me to keep giving back.
"Whilst in my second year of university, I was the President of the Paramedic Society, and in that time, I organised a 24-hour CPR marathon. Not only were we able to bring the community together to raise vital funds to keep the charity running, we were also able to teach over 100 people the lifesaving skill of CPR.
"Magpas Air Ambulance offers so many ways to get involved, whether that’s through fundraising, raising awareness, or teaching CPR in the community. If you want to make a difference, I can’t recommend volunteering with them enough! Together, we can help this charity continue saving lives."

Without support from volunteers like Becca and Rosie, Magpas Air Ambulance couldn’t continue to save lives in the local community 24/7. If you're interested in learning more about our volunteering opportunities, find out more.
