For one young St Neots girl and her aspirations, the sky’s the limit! Not only is 12 year old Bethany embarking on her first fundraising challenge for Magpas Air Ambulance, but she also wants to work for a charity like Magpas – as an air ambulance pilot!

Having run 2k and 5k park runs, Bethany has set herself the new goal of running 10k later this month. With an average timing of 24 minutes and 50 seconds for a 5k park run under her belt, she’s pretty confident she’ll reach her target, but she’s also feeling, “excited and a little nervous” about the prospect.

Bethany’s mum, Becci, has been so impressed with Bethany’s commitments to the cause. Becci explains, “Bethany regularly checks the Magpas Air Ambulance website for updates and has done quite a bit of research about what’s happening at the charity.

My husband and I are incredibly proud of our daughter’s determination and her desire to help raise money for such a worthy cause.  When she told me she had challenged herself to run 10k I thought it was a bit ambitious, but she managed the 5k park run so easily, 10k might be difficult for her, but it’s definitely achievable – we’re behind her 100%.”

On the day of Bethany’s 10k, her mum will start the run with Bethany.  Becci points out that, “Bethany is so much faster than I am.  I’m hoping some friends will join in to keep her company along the way.  I will make sure I am there to see her finish.”

When asked what she thinks about the work Magpas Air Ambulance does, Bethany answers, “They are an incredible charity and save thousands of lives. It is truly amazing how talented their team is.”
