Air Ambulances UK, the national body supporting the lifesaving work of the UK’s air ambulance charities, has revealed the shortlist of nominees for the Air Ambulance Awards of Excellence 2025. And local charity, Magpas Air Ambulance, has three contenders in the running this year.

The prestigious awards recognise the exceptional critical care skills, commitment, and achievements of those working within and supporting the air ambulance sector.

At Magpas Air Ambulance, the lifesaving charity based in Cambridgeshire that responds to emergencies across the East of England, a charity staff member, a trustee and a doctor have all been recognised for their exemplary work and commitment to the service.

Finally, Magpas Air Ambulance Executive Medical Director and Doctor, Simon Lewis, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Lifetime Achievement award. Dr Simon Lewis is one of the most influential figures in UK pre-hospital emergency medicine and his legacy is evident not only in the countless lives he has saved, but also in the systems and clinicians he has helped shape.

Lindsay Boswell, Interim CEO of Air Ambulances UK, said: “Congratulations to everyone shortlisted for the Air Ambulances UK Awards of Excellence 2025. Every day, air ambulance charities provide extraordinary critical care to people in need, and these awards shine a spotlight on the individuals, teams, and supporters who make this possible. The calibre of nominees this year is exceptional, and we are proud to recognise their remarkable contributions.”

The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, 3rd December. We're wishing all three nominees the best of luck!
