Magpas Air Ambulance Thankathon 2024

Today may be what’s typically known as 'Blue Monday', but the team at Magpas Air Ambulance aren’t feeling those January blues. Instead today, the Cambridgeshire based charity that saves lives across the East of England, is hosting it’s annual ‘Thankathon’.

As a way to spread some cheer this dreary Monday, Magpas Air Ambulance is spending the day phoning as many of the charity’s supporters as possible, simply to say ‘thank you’. Magpas Air Ambulance lottery players, fundraisers, donors and volunteers are all receiving calls—and that call could be from anyone from the charity, with Magpas Air Ambulance’s fundraising team, CEO and even the frontline team picking up the phone to show their gratitude.

So far, Magpas Air Ambulance has made more than 400 calls—with more still to go—which have been extremely well received by supporters. Debbie Florence, the charity’s Supporter Care Officer says, “It’s my job to speak to our supporters every day, but just being able to phone people up unexpectedly and simply say thank you is such a heartwarming thing to do. You can literally hear people light up on the other end of the phone, and that’s all we’re hoping to do today—just put a smile on people’s faces and thank them for making such a lifesaving difference in the community by supporting our service.”

Magpas Air Ambulance Director of Fundraising, Lucy Chapman, adds “As much as we'd like to individually thank every supporter over the phone for their support of Magpas Air Ambulance, we'll only be able to make it through a number of phone calls today. So, for anyone who supports our charity and doesn’t receive a call, please know that we are grateful for everything you do to support our lifesaving service. You help us save lives and keep families together across the East of England and we couldn't do it without you. Thank you."
