A brand-new study, co-authored by team members from Magpas Air Ambulance, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance and East Anglian Air Ambulance, has explored the additional and, sometimes hidden, value our teams bring to emergency scenes.

The study, published in the Air Medical Journal, looked at more than 1,400 missions. Results found that as well as the advanced clinical interventions we provide, our teams also gave vital advice and empowered the local ambulance crews in 67% of emergencies. They also had to make complex medical decisions and manage difficult, high-pressure scenes in over half of these missions.

These findings serve as a fantastic reminder that the lifesaving service we provide 24/7 isn't just about the medical procedures we perform, but also the leadership and teamwork we bring to the scene; working with our ambulance service colleagues to ensure every patient who needs us receives the very best pre-hospital care.
