Professional speedway rider for the Kings Lynn stars & Eastbourne Eagles, Lewis Kerr, is inviting the people of West Norfolk and surrounding areas to ‘get golfing’ at Heacham Manor Golf Club near King’s Lynn and sign up to his annual golf day on 27th October. On the day, Lewis will be joined by several fellow professional speedway riders – all in aid of the vital air ambulance charity that flew to him and saved his life 4 years ago.
On 2nd August 2015, Lewi (to everyone who knows him) was taking part in a speedway meeting in Peterborough, when he was involved in a serious collision and suffered critical head injuries. Magpas Air Ambulance flew to him and, with his whole family watching; Magpas Doctor Raluca Ionescu and Magpas Paramedic Dan Phillips put Lewis in a medically induced coma on the track (bringing hospital level care to him there and then). Just two months later and Lewis was out of the hospital, having made a great recovery.
These days, life for Lewi is flourishing! He is now a Dad of two and his speedway career is going from strength to strength. Lewis is a prime example of how delivering an advanced level of medical care to seriously ill or injured patients can make such a critical difference i.e. the patient is more likely to survive, recover more quickly, spend less time in hospital and return to a good quality of life.
Hence Lewi is encouraging people to take part in his golf event later this month. He explains, “I want to help Magpas Air Ambulance to keep their air ambulance flying so that they can keep on saving lives, like they did for me. Me and my family will be forever grateful to the fantastic team at this brilliant charity.”
If you’d like to join Lewi at his 5th annual golf event on 27th October; please contact at Heacham Manor Golf Club as soon as possible on: (01485) 536030 / www.heacham-manor.co.uk for more information. The closing date for entries is 20th October. Thank you.
