About our Patient Voices forum

Our patients—past, present and future—are at the heart of everything we do.

Patients and their relatives have a unique perspective on the service Magpas Air Ambulance provides. In this forum, a group of former patients and family members come together to use their insights to help shape and develop patient communications and care. This work spans the organisation including clinical operations, research, aftercare, and fundraising.

Any Magpas Air Ambulance patient, or relative of a former patient, is welcome to join Patient Voices. The meetings are held four times a year (in person with the option to join online) with optional online catch-ups in between. Magpas Air Ambulance's Patient Engagement Lead, Dr Sarah Hazleman, and Senior Governance Officer, Rachel Carter are always in attendance.

In Patient Voices, the representatives...

  • Share views and insights on being a patient or relative of the organisation
  • Share ideas to develop the organisations aftercare services
  • Share perspective and feedback on the organisations strategic objectives
  • Share views on research opportunities
  • Share feedback on proposals for new communications aimed at patients and relatives
  • Share feedback and views on other items as they arise

Meet some of our Patient Voices members

"Patient Voices is a unique forum for previous patients and their families to be able to assist Magpas Air Ambulance and shape how it operates and communicates from our point of view. For me, it is a real privilege to be able to give back something to this incredible charity."

Michelle
Patient's wife

"The Patients Voices forum has been pivotal in my rehabilitation—gaining friends that I now consider my extended family."

Scott
Former patient

"I joined the Patient Voices Forum, as the parent of a patient, to share my experiences with others and provide insights to Magpas Air Ambulance from a patient's perspective."

Ann
Patient's mum

"Being part of the Patient Voices forum allows me the opportunity to give back a small part of what Magpas Air Ambulance gave me. It also allows patients and their families to have a direct input on how we, the patients, and Magpas Air Ambulance interact with each other in the time following what can be a life-changing event."
