St Albans, man suffers cardiac arrest – Magpas Air Ambulance flies to him

The patient was airlifted to hospital by Magpas Air Ambulance

At 9:05am yesterday morning (15th) Magpas Doctor Scott Knapp and Paramedic Sally Boor landed in St Albans via the new Magpas Air Ambulance. They had been called to treat a man who had suffered a cardiac arrest.

Fortunately, when the Magpas enhanced medical team arrived, the patient (in his 40's) had received bystander CPR. They worked closely with an EEAST Ambulance Service paramedic crew to assess the patient and placed the man into a medically induced coma at the scene (providing him with A&E level care). The Magpas doctor-paramedic team then airlifted the patient to Harefield Hospital for further treatment, where he was in a serious but stable condition upon arrival.

The Magpas Air Ambulance helicopter crew who flew the patient and medical team were Pilot Chris Sherriff and Technical Crew Member George Phillips.

We have no further information.
