On Sunday, 7th May, Magpas Air Ambulance hosted its very first Mission: Obstacle Dash!
The 5K obstacle course saw 700 participants (including families, friends, sports and community groups, and even Magpas Air Ambulance former patients and clinicians) brave the mud to crash, splash and climb their way to the finish line.
Hosted by Gladiator Events at a countryside location in Abbotts Ripton, Missioners kicked off the event with a dance warm-up led by The Guitart School of Performing Arts on the main stage. After which, they bustled through 10,000 balls; clambered over floating dinghies; weaved and climbed through the woodland webs; and flung themselves down a foam-covered inflatable flume... And so much more! Participants could then celebrate together over food, drinks and ice creams at the event village.
The event was a huge success—made possible thanks to Magpas Air Ambulance’s incredible volunteers on the day, and event sponsors Steven Eagell Toyota and Leaders Lettings. On the day photography was also kindly provided free of charge by Rob Morris and the St Ives Photographic Club.
Thanks to everyone who helped put on the event, and the hundreds of people who booked tickets to take part and fundraised, Mission: Obstacle Dash raised a phenomenal £21,000 for Magpas Air Ambulance.
This money will help keep the charity’s helicopter flying, its rapid response vehicles on the ground and the Magpas Air Ambulance advanced medical team saving lives 24/7.
The lifesaving service, which relies on generous public donations and events such as this to continue saving lives across the East of England, hopes to make Mission: Obstacle Dash an annual event. However, if you can’t wait until next year, you can check out all the other Magpas Air Ambulance challenges you can take on in the meantime here.
