Melbourn, car vs van – Magpas Air Ambulance flies to scene

At 2:46pm yesterday afternoon (25th) Magpas Doctor Rupert Hurry and Paramedic Ryan Warwick landed in Melbourn via the Magpas Air Ambulance. They had been called to treat a man who had been injured in a multi – vehicle collision.

The Magpas enhanced medical team assessed the patient (in his 40’s) who had sustained multiple injuries. They sedated the patient at the scene (providing him with A&E level care) before working alongside other emergency services teams to safely extricate him from the vehicle. The doctor-paramedic team then accompanied the man to Addenbrooke’s Hospital via land ambulance. He was in very serious but stable condition upon arrival.

The helicopter crew who flew the medical team to the scene were Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crewmember George Phillips.

An EEAST Ambulance Service paramedic crew, Cambridgeshire Police, Cambridegshire Fire and Rescue Service and a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) were also in attendance.
