Last Thursday, more than 120 people visited Magpas Air Ambulance’s Headquarters in Alconbury Weald; getting the chance to see the operational base and learning how the charity saves lives 24/7 across Cambridgeshire and beyond.

With the opportunity to learn CPR, complete themed games and activities, and explore behind-the-scenes of the state-of-the-art headquarters that opened just two years ago, these open days give people a real insight into what it takes to be there for patients every day.
The charity’s first open day of the year proved to be a big success for local residents and, although tickets are free, the day raised over £500 for the service that relies on donations to continue working in the community.

Ruth Beck, Magpas Air Ambulance’s Corporate, Community and Events Manager explains, “Our open days are not only a brilliant way to find out more about our charity, keep the kids entertained in the school holidays and spot our helicopter up close; they also provide us with a way to build relationships with our local community and educate the public on the advanced medical care our team provides and why our lifesaving service is so vital in the area.
“Our open days are always fully booked, and we receive fantastic feedback from everyone who attends. We can’t wait to host many more throughout the year!”
