A47 Nr Wisbech, serious car & van collision – Magpas Air Ambulance flies to scene

At 7:40am this morning (9th), Magpas Doctor Richard Booker and Paramedic Steve Chambers landed on the A47 near Wisbech via the Magpas Air Ambulance. They had been called to a serious collision between a car and van.

The Magpas enhanced medical team assessed one of the patients (in her 20’s) who had sustained multiple serious injuries. They gave her a general anaesthetic at the scene, placing her into a medically induced coma (providing her with A&E level care) before airlifting her to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

The Magpas Air Ambulance helicopter crew who flew the Magpas medical team and patient were Pilot Andy Figg and Crewmember George Phillips.

East Anglian Air Ambulance treated another patient involved in the incident.

Sadly a person was also pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this time.

An EEAST Ambulance Service paramedic crew, Cambridgeshire Police and the Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the Cambridgeshire Road Policing Unit on 101 quoting incident 73 of 9 November, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111. Thank you.

We have no further information.
