Wellingborough, man impaled in fall – Magpas Air Ambulance fly to him

At 5:12pm on Tuesday 10th September, Magpas Doctor Mike Thompson, Paramedic Andy Smith and Doctor David Leverton landed in Wellingborough via the Magpas Air Ambulance. They had been called to a man who had sustained a serious injury after being impaled in a fall.

The Magpas enhanced medical team assessed the patient (in his 70’s), who had sustained a serious chest injury and provided him with pain relief at the scene. They then worked closely with Northampton Fire and Rescue Service and an EMAS Ambulance Service paramedic crew to safely move the patient into the air ambulance, before flying him to University Hospital Coventry. The man was in a serious condition upon arrival.

The helicopter crew who flew the patient and medical team were Pilot Alistair White and Technical Crew Member Rob Davies.
