Nr Northampton, two injured in 2x vehicle collision – Magpas Air Ambulance flies to the scene

At 11.31am this morning (16th), Magpas Doctor Lee Soomaroo, and Paramedics Chris Hawkins and Dan Cody, landed in Northampton, via the Magpas Air Ambulance, to treat two people injured in a head on collision involving two vehicles.

The Magpas team assessed two patients who were both trapped in their vehicles. They worked with Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service to extricate a man (in his 50s) who had sustained head and leg injuries. They immobilised the patient to protect his injuries and provided him with strong pain relief. He then was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry where he was in a stable condition upon arrival.

The other patient sustained minor injuries and was taken by land ambulance to Northampton General Hospital.

The helicopter crew who flew the medical team and patient were Pilot Andy Figg and Crewmember Lee Kennedy.

East Midlands Ambulance Service and East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme (EMICS) were also in attendance.
