Bedford, woman suffers serious back injury in fall – Magpas Air Ambulance flies to scene


At 8.36am this morning (10th) Magpas Doctor Dave Leverton and Paramedic Dan Cody landed in Bedford via the Magpas Air Ambulance. They had been called to treat a woman who had been in injured in a fall.

The Magpas enhanced medical team assessed the patient (in her 70’s) who had suffered a complex back injury. They sedated her at the scene (providing her with A&E level care) and worked with an EEAST Ambulance Service paramedic crew and the Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service to extricate the woman. The doctor and paramedic team then accompanied the patient to Bedford Hospital via land ambulance, she was in a stable condition upon arrival.

The helicopter crew who flew the medical team were Chief Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crewmember Rob Davies.
