A17, near Swineshead, 5x vehicle collision – Magpas Air Ambulance flies to the scene

At 1.02pm on Thursday afternoon (19th), Magpas Doctor Rupert Hurry and Paramedic Alex Pearce landed beside the A17 near Swineshead, via the Magpas air ambulance, to treat a man injured in a collision involving 5 vehicles.

The Magpas medical team assessed the man (in his 40s), who had sustained leg and abdominal injuries. The patient was sedated and given advanced pain relief (providing him with A&E level care at the scene)in order to extricate him from his vehicle. He was then flown to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he was in a serious but stable condition upon arrival.

The helicopter crew who flew the medical team and patient were Pilot Matt Tacon and Crewmember Rob Davies.

EMAS Ambulance Service paramedic crews, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, Lincolnshire Police, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service, and East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme (EMICS) were also in attendance.
